Who is American Acquisition Group?

We are a full service right of way acquisition consulting firm to mainly public sector agencies acquiring land under the threat of eminent domain and in compliance to state and federal regulations including the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Policies Act of 1970, as amended (The Uniform Act or URA). We offer a staff comprised of cross-trained and licensed professionals in the fields of project management, appraisal, appraisal review, acquisition negotiations, relocation assistance and property management, with over 300 years of combined experience.

What is right of way acquisition, eminent domain and the Uniform Act?

Public projects such as highways and roads affect people's lives by improving safety and the way we move about our communities and county. To improve highways and carry out other transportation programs, some people's lives are disrupted because their land, home, or business may have to make way for a project and become public owned land otherwise known as right of way. When property cannot be acquired by negotiations with an impacted property owner, duly authorized public agencies with the constitutional power of eminent domain can acquire the property through the legislative process known as condemnation. Eminent domain, in short, is the right of a public entity such as a city, county or state, to involuntarily seize private property for a public purpose. The URA is a law enacted as Public Law 91-646, and brought a minimum standard of performance to all Federally funded projects with regard to the acquisition of real property and the relocation of persons displaced by the acquisition of such property, whether under the threat of eminent domain or not. This law was enacted to protect private land owners by regulating the policies and procedures by which property is acquire by the government.

Many of your staff members have designations. What do they mean?

AAG strongly believes in the education and professionalism of all staff through such industry associations as the International Right of Way Association (IRWA), the Appraisal Institute (AI) and American Society of Appraisers (ASA) to name a few. Where is AAG located?

AAG was founded and remains headquartered in beautiful Tampa, Florida. We have representatives throughout the state of Florida and we maintain a commitment to our clients to make ourselves available for the needs of the project, whether that means having staff travel to the project as-needed or opening a field office for the duration of the project. We are prequalified and/or licensed to work in the states of Florida, Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, Illinois, Virginia, West Virginia and New Jersey.

How are your services procured?

AAG responds to Requests for Proposals, Bids, Qualifications and Letters of Interest and Response published by users of our services, as well as individual requests for fee quotes. Our fees are typically based per unit, report or cost-plus means and competitive in the open market. AAG also is experience working in a subconsultant role particularly on engineering project that include right of way as a scope of service.
